How to Compress a PDF to 100 KB or 200 KB for Online Applications
A practical guide to shrinking PDFs for job, exam and government portals without making them unreadable – with the settings that actually work.
Need passport-size photos for a form, ID card, admission or visa? Instead of paying for a studio session every time, you can take a compliant photo with your phone and print a full sheet for the cost of one print.
| Size | Commonly used for |
|---|---|
| 35 × 45 mm | Passports and visas in many countries (UK, EU/Schengen, India and more), many application forms |
| 45 × 55 mm | Some passport and ID applications (check your local requirements) |
| 40 × 50 mm | Some visa and ID applications |
| 2 × 2 inch (51 × 51 mm) | US passports and visas |
| 33 × 48 mm | Chinese visas |
| 25 × 30 mm | “Stamp size” photos for forms and admit cards |
Always check the official requirements for your specific application – rules on background colour, head size, glasses and expression vary, and they change.
An A4 sheet fits up to 30 photos of 35 × 45 mm with small gaps – enough for years of forms.
In the print dialog, set scaling to “Actual size” or “100%”. If you choose “Fit to page”, the printer may shrink everything and your photos will be slightly too small. For the best result, use glossy or matte photo paper and the “photo” quality setting. Most print shops can print a PDF on photo paper for a small fee.
Online applications usually want a JPG with exact pixels and a maximum size – for example 300 × 300 px under 100 KB. Use Resize Image to set the dimensions and target file size in one step.
With a decent phone photo and the right settings, you can produce professional-looking passport photos at home in about five minutes.
